5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy : Al Bashid steers CYCLONE to 51-run win, CHAMP thrash TCMDC by 9 wickets

Md Al Bashid produced a masterful knock of 84 runs off59 balls to steer C Y CLONE, Thangmeiband to a convincing 51-run victory against AKSDO, Khangabok in a Group B match of the ongoing 5th MNCA Luwangpokpa T-20 Trophy.
Asked to bat first at Khudeiband Lampak in Taothong, CYCLONE posted a competitive total of 155 runs for 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs courtesy of Al Bashid's memorable innings that was studded with 8 fours and 2 sixes after a double whammy in the first over before Nongthombam and Laishram Kishan shared a bulk of 5 wickets to dismantle AKSDO for 104 runs within 18 overs.
Laishram Kishan 18 off 26 balls and Moirangthem Thomsan 28 off 21 balls also provided assistance to Md Al Bashid in the CYCLONE innings that saw Laishram Akash (3/9) enjoying a three wicket haul in 4 overs for AKSDO while his compatriots Laishram Rohit (1/35) and Ningthoujam Sanayai (1/24) chipped in with a wicket apiece.
AKSDO also did not have the best of the start and slumped to 15/3 in 2.4 overs Laishram Kishan found the breakthrough early and went on to claim one more wicket to finish with 2/29.Wickets kept falling as all the CYCLONE bowlers proved effective with the ball and eventually slumped to 104 all out despite efforts from Saikhom Kaiku 30 off 31 and Akash Laishram 36 off 13 balls to ease the pressure midway.
Nongthombam Denin who opened his account by dismissing Winchelly Laishram returned with the best figures of 3/20 in 3 overs as Loktongbam Santosh (1/11), Oinam Reolin (1/5), Abdul Kasim (1/20) and Suraj Nong (1/19) finished with one wicket apiece.
Md Al Bashid was adjudged player of the match.
The day also saw CHAMP, Khagempalli returning to winning ways by handing TCMDC, Thongju a 9-wicket defeat at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College ground.
CHAMP chose wisely to field first and bundled out TCMDC for 73 runs in 16.2 overs and cruised to the target in 9.3 overs with one wicket left to spare courtesy of Kamajit's unbeaten 44 off 29 balls.
Earlier in the first innings, Md Ahsanul Kabir (3/10 in 3.2 overs) and Md Sultan Karim (3/9 in 3 overs) and Keisham Kennedy (2/23 in 4 overs) shared 8 wickets for CHAMP.
Kharibam Suraj 16, Laishram Vivekananda 14 and Urikhinbam Rain 11 were the only double digit run getters for TCMDC today before Kongbrailatpam Kalyan Sharma picked the only wicket in the chase.
Md Sultan Karim who registered three wickets and caught Kalyan off Keisham Kennedy's bowling for the first wicket was adjudged player of the match.
The Group A match between RULE, Meitram and PTRC, Patsoi Part IV at Moijing Public Ground and the Group D match between TRAU, Kwakeithel and Blue Hawk, Khurai at Lairenjam Public ground were abandoned due to rain.
