AHMLL to observe 9th "Huyen Lanlong Day" on Aug 7

The Apunba Manipur Huyen Lanlong Lup (AMHLL) is finalized to observe the 9th "Huyen Lanlong Day" on August 7, 2026, at the historic Mapal Kangjeibung.
Observed annually since 2017, this significant day commemorates the landmark conclave of Thang-Ta Sintakpurels (masters) from across the state at Khuman Lampak.
According to an AMHLL press release, the event serves as a solemn occasion to honor and pay tribute to the late pioneers of this indigenous Manipuri martial art form.
Floral offerings and traditional Thang-Ta salutations will be paid to the portraits of departed Thang-Ta Shintakpas and Shintakpurels as a part of the observance, said AMHLL.
Performance of songs dedicated specifically to the heritage of Thang-Ta, a dedicated showcase featuring traditional equipment including Thang, Ta, Cheibi, Arambai, Leechei.
Cheisang, uniforms, Chung, Chungoi, and informative literature on the art form, will be also the highlight of the observance, it said.
Veteran Thang-Ta teachers and activists over the age of 70 will be formally honored for their lifelong dedication, it said while adding that grand martial arts displays featuring traditional styles such as Mukna (indigenous wrestling), Thang Chainaba (sword combat), Punsirol Sajel, Ta Khousaba (spear dance), Arambai etc will be a part of the observance.
AMHLL also extended a warm invitation to young Thang-Ta students, practitioners, and the general public to participate widely and support the preservation of this cultural heritage.
