69th National School Games U-17 Judo Championships underway in Imphal

Imphal, January 24 2026: The 69th National School Games Judo Championships for U-17 boys and girls began here at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.

The championships hosted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports under the supervision of the School Games Federation of India will see 275 boys and 260 girls representing various schools across the country compete for top honours.

The opening day saw Delhi bag 2 gold and 1 bronze medals to top the tally as Maharashtra registered 2 gold medals to follow Delhi closely.

Harsh of Delhi bagged a gold medal in the boys' -40 kg category competition beating Dharshan Priyan of Tamil Nadu in the final as Abhijith of Kerala and Himanshu of CBSE shared the bronze medal podium.

In the -45 kg final, Jashandeep of Punjab defeated Atul Pal of Uttar Pradesh to seal the gold medal as Praveen Kumar Maheswarapu of Telangana and Tanis of KVS settled for the bronze medals.

Harshvardhan Balasaheb Nage of Maharashtra meanwhile won the +90 kg category gold by defeating Charlie J of Kerala in the final.

The bronze medals for the category went to Mainak Dutta of Chandigarh and Naitik Dogra of Punjab.

The other gold medal for Delhi came in the girls' -36 kg category competition as Tanisha got the better of Dhoriya Radhakaben of Gujarat in the final.

Niharika Joshi of Uttarakhand and Shyami Chakma of Tripura secured the bronze medal in the category.

Hembati Nag of Chandigarh meanwhile claimed the -40 kg category title by defeating Sowmiya V of Tamil Nadu in the final.

Asma of Uttar Pradesh and Kritika Baisoya of Delhi shared the bronze medal podium in this category.

Danika Shetty of Maharashtra picked the second gold medal for the State by beating Anjali Umesh Patil of Karnataka in the +70 kg girls final.

Kerala's Helan Anna and Manipur's Takhellambam Aleena settled for the bronze medals in this category.

The championship will conclude on January 26 .
