Manipur emerge overall team champions of Senior National Powerlifting and Bench Press C'ships 2025

Imphal, August 23 2025:
Manipur team were crowned overall champions of the Senior National Powerlifting (Equipped and Non Equipped) Championships and National Bench Press Championships which were held from August 18 to 21 at Milanee Hall, Bistupur, Jamshedpur under the aegis of the Indian Powerlifting Federation.
The State team won a total of 6 gold, 6 silver and 8 bronze medals to seal the overall team title with a bulk of 16 medals including 5 gold coming from the 14 bench press athletes.
Thingbaijam Premojit (Senior and Masters 1120 kg) picked two gold medals in the Bench Press competition as Nongthombam Murgesan (Masters II 74 kg), Mangsatabam Prasanta (Masters I 83 kg), Huidrom Irabanta (Masters I 105 kg) chipped in a gold medal apiece.
Premojit managed a best lift of 180 kg to seal the gold medals in both the senior and masters I category as Nongthombam Murgesan registered best lift of 102.5 kg; M Prasanta managed best lift of 117.5 kg and Irabanta posted best 145 kg lift.
The silver medalist meanwhile include Potsangbam Suraj (Masters I 74 kg - 92.5 kg lift), Tourangbam Ginot Singh (Senior Men's 83 kg- 145 kg lift), Konjengbam Premjit (Masters I 93 kg - 120 kg lift), Thoudam Rajiv (Masters I 105 kg- 105 kg lift), Ngangom Kunjabihari (Masters II 83 kg -84 kg) and Ningthoujam Gunileima (senior women's 52 kg- 45 kg lift) .
Meanwhile, Aryan Kumar Sahu (Sub-Junior 59 kg- 67.5 kg lift), Wahengbam Keilash (Junior Men's 66 kg - 95 kg lift), Konjengbam Premjit (Senior 93 kg - 120 kg lift), Waikhom Langlen (Senior Women's 76 kg- 52.5 kg lift) and Oinam Dhaneshwori (Senior Women's 84+ kg - 40 kg lift) won bronze medals in the bench press competition.
Ningthoujam Gunileima who settled for a bench press silver medal however won a gold medal in the powerlifting competition with a total lift of 265 kg in the senior women's 52 kg category.
Huidrom Olibiya (Senior Women's 63 kg- 292.5 kg lift), Oinam Dhaneshwori (Senior Women's 84+ kg-117.5 kg lift) and Waikhom Minakumar Singh (Senior Men's 74 kg - 525 kg lift) meanwhile settled for the bronze medals.
