Chongtham Bluncely secures junior bodybuilding silver

Manipur's Chongtham Bluncely finished second to settle for a silver medal in the junior bodybuilding competition at 57th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2025 being underway in Bangkok under the aegis of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation.

Chongtham Bluncely, who sealed the Mr Imphal East title in the Imphal East District Body Building Contest recently, finished behind Natchanon Maosem of Thailand in the above 75 kg category competition to earn the silver medal for India.

Yasar Samir Ehsan of Afghanistan meanwhile finished third in the same competition as Vietnam's Le Huu Thien finished fourth.

Manipur's Mayanglambam Olenjit who was crowned junior men's champion in the 11th Mr Khamba Inter District State Level Bodybuilding Contest held recently at Kakching on the occasion of Patriots' Day and runner up in the senior category competition, however finished fifth in the same competition.

Manipur's Hawaibam Ricky who competed in the junior men's bodybuilding competition for upto 75 kg category finished fourth as Farasat Ali Khan of Pakistan claimed the top honour.

India's Bhushan Dutt Gaur settled for the runner up title in the category as Baitullah Zadran of Afghanistan finished second runner up and Firoj of India finished 4th runner up.

Leishangthem Kumarjit meanwhile finished fifth in the masters' 50-60 years category competition.

As many as 5 bodybuilders from Manipur are representing at the continental event that will run till August 25 .

Thokchom Sanjeeta of World Gym, Yaiskul, (55 kg women's bodybuilding) is the remaining athlete from Manipur whose competition is slated tomorrow.

Notably, Chongtham Bluncely trains at Ogust Gym, Checkon, Mayanglambam Olenjit at DJ Gym and Fitness, Kakching and Hawaibam Ricky at Royal Gym, Ningomthong.

Meanwhile, Leishangthem Kumarjit's parent unit is MPSC .
