Moirangthem Abiya seals 1st Kakching Mukna Jatra title

Kakching, June 21 2025: Moirangthem Abiya wrestled his way to the 1st Kakching Mukna Jatra title during the 1 st Kakching Mukna Jatra competition organised by the Indigenous Mukna Association (IMA), Kakching at Central Public Hall, YM High School Campus in Kakching Sangaiyumpham.

Abiya, this year's Mukna Jatra of Kakching Khullen Ibudhou Khamlangba Haraoba, defeated Naorem Naoba, Mukna Jatra of Kakching Wairi Ibudhou Khamlangba Haraoba, to claim the prestigious Kakching Mukna Jatra title.

As many as 28 muknarois (indigenous wrestlers), 14 each from the Kakching Khullen and Kakching Wairi sides participated in the competition organised in connection with the Lai Haraoba rituals of Kakching Wairi Ibudhou Khamlangba and Kakching Khullen Ibudhou Khamlangba.

6 wrestlers including Jatra Abiya from the Kakching Khullen side won their bouts as 8 wrestlers from the Kakching Wairi side emerged victorious against their rivals.

The spectacular wrestling event was attended by Mayanglambam Rameshwar, MLA, Kakching Assembly Constituency as the chief guest; Ksh Biramangol, president, IMA, Kakching as the functional president; Naorem Shanjitkumar, caretaker Chairperson, Kakching Municipal Council; M Asnikumar, Chairman Loktak Development Authority and Naorem Nopur, proprietor, Bhubon and Leiren Brick field, Kakching Lamdong as guests of honour.
