Imphal, October 20 2025: Manipur U-19 men's team who sealed the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Plate Division title and earned promotion to the Elite Division next season, were accorded a heroes welcome by the Manipur Cricket Association, family members and well wishers today as they landed here at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport this afternoon.

Notably, Manipur U-19 boys scripted history by steamrolling Sikkim by 205-runs in the final match of the tournament at Cricket Stadium, Sector-16, Chandigarh yesterday.

Thokchom Lucky starred with a 116-ball 130 to guide Manipur to the historic victory as Y Chingkhei Nganba (3/9) and Zamir (2/ 7) shared a bulk of 5 wickets to devastate Sikkim who were asked to chase 282 for the win.

Zamir 30 off 32, W Max 25 off 34 and Thoiba 20 off 17 also contributed to help Manipur post a total of 281 runs for all wickets down in 47.4 overs in the first innings of the final match yesterday.

Abi 3/28 and Perna 2/36 led the bowling charge for Sikkim in this innings before Chingkhei Nganba and Zamir set up their collapse at 76 within 23 overs.

Only Denree 35 off 58 was the double digit scorer for Sikkim in reply as Lucky, Reolin, Danish, Rain and Swabhiman also chipped in with a wicket apiece to quicken the Sikkim slump.

Lucky was not only adjudged player of the final match, but was also declared player of the series.

This is Manipur's second historic achievement in domestic cricket following senior men's Elite Division qualification in the Ranji Trophy in the 2022-23 season.

The Manipur Cricket Association also congratulated the players, coach, manager and other support staff for the remarkable feat.

The association also announced Rs 7 lakh cash reward for the State team over their historic milestone.
