Imphal, July 20 2025: Amom Krish Singh produced a scintillating four-goal salvo to inspire Manipur to a commanding 8-1 victory over Jharkhand in their opening match of the Junior Boys' National Football Championship for the Dr BC Roy Trophy 2025-26 (Tier 1 - Group Stage) at GNDU Sports Complex in Amritsar on Sunday.

Manipur asserted their dominance from the outset, launching into action with high intensity and purpose.

It took just six minutes for the breakthrough to come, as Krish Singh coolly slotted home the opener.

Building on the early momentum, Mutum Mangal Meitei doubled their lead in the 17th minute with a well-placed finish, before Yumnam Sonamani added a third shortly before the interval, sending Manipur into the break with a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

The second half saw no let-up from the state boys, who continued to apply pressure.

Khutleibam Sultan made it 4-0 in the 48th minute with a composed finish, further deflating the Jharkhand defence.

Although Meshak Rahul Soy managed to pull one back for Jharkhand in the 63rd minute�a solitary effort that proved little more than consolation�Manipur swiftly regained control of the game.

Krish then took centre stage, showcasing his striking prowess with a rapid-fire hat-trick.

The prolific forward found the net in the 72nd, 79th, and 85th minutes, taking his personal tally to four goals and effectively sealing the outcome well before the final whistle.

Capping off a thoroughly dominant display, Meisnam Jojo Meetei added a goal from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to round out the 8-1 scoreline.

With this emphatic opening result, Manipur have laid down a strong marker in Group C proceedings and will look to carry this momentum forward as they next face Odisha on July 22 .
