Governor's Cup polo tournament ITPC, KPC-A advance into semi final

Imphal, March 19 2015: Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club (ITPC) and Khurai Polo Club (KPC)-A claimed victories and advanced into the semi finals of the 25th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, today.

The third quarter final played at Mapal Kangjeibung, ITPC thrashed Nambul Mapal Polo Club (NMPC) by a margin of 9 goals to two.

The match began with NMPC's L Tarun scoring the opening goal in the first chukker but M Manihar of ITPC found the equaliser in the same chukker.

M Dolen helped ITPC take a 2-1 lead in the second chukker.

A brace from S Sadananda and a goal each from M Manihar and M Dolen took the scoreline to 6-2 while the second goal for NMPC was scored by S Girmohon in the second chukker.

In the final chukker, S Sadananda scored a double while M Dolen contributed a goal to make the final scoreline 9-2 .

In the last quarter final match of the tournament, Khurai Polo Club (KPC)-A down K&MMRS by a margin of 6 goals to two.

P Ojit alone banged in three goals, one in the first and a brace in the third chukker while O Roger, P Jotin and T Roshan contributed a goal each to give KPC-A 6 goals.

On the other hand, O Satyajit and L Dhaneshwor scored a goal each for K&MMRS.

In the first semi final of women's polo, District Pana Sagol Khangjei Lup (DPSKL) humiliated Eastern Students' Club (ESC) by a margin of 11 goals to nil.

In the first chukker, DPSKL's L Thadoi Chanu and L Ashakiran scored a goal each.

L Thadoi Chanu and L Ashakiran again contributed a goal each followed by a brace from S Sumita to help DPSKL take a convincing 6-0 lead at the end of the second chukker.

In the third chukker, S Leiyon, L Ashakiran, S Sumita and L Thadoi together scored four more goals for DPSKL.

S Sumita struck her third goal in the final chukker to make the final scoreline 11-0 against a hapless ESC.
