4th MNCA Superplate Tournament : Nongthombam Sarojkumar picks five in RULE'S 4-wicket win

Imphal, December 18 2024: Nongthombam Sarojkumar picks five wickets to set up RULE a four wicket win over UCC, Kangchup Road in a Group A league match of the ongoing 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament 2024-25 .

Opting to field first at Moijing Public Ground, RULE rode on prolific bowling performances from Nongthombam Sarojkumar (5/ 41 in 7 overs), Rojit Angomcha (2/16) and Jay Singh (2/25) to bowl out UCC for 173 runs in 35 overs before securing 175 runs for 6 wickets in 34.4 overs thanks to an unbeaten 72 from Jay Singh and Leishangthem Bishoijit's 45-ball 39.For UCC, Bipinkumar Langpoklakpam 34, Suraj 30 and Laishram Roshan 27 were the main run getters for UCC before Thokchom Yoihenba (2/42), L Roshan (1/35), L Bhuson (1/27), K Gulson (1/24) and L Bipinkumar (1/37) struggled hard to disrupt RULE'S chase.

Sarojkumar who starred with the ball for RULE was adjudged player of the match.

Meanwhile in a Group B league match staged at Model Hr Sec and Oriental College ground, AKSDO posted 157/9 in 35 overs and bundled out Al-Ameen, Lilong for 142 runs in 35 overs for the 15 run victory.

Akash Laishram hit a 69-ball 50 and Saikhom Kaiku added 33 runs to help AKSDO post a modest total in the first innings that saw Najarul Islam (4/20) and Umar (2/32) sharing 6 major wickets for Al-Ameen.

In reply, Safwan Khan 33, FM Sakil Ahamed 22, Kh Shahadat Ali 18 led the scoring in a lost cause as Rohit Laishram (2/28), S Lanchenba (2/21) and Sanayai Ningthoujam (2/19) combined well for AKSDO.

S Kaiku, L Akash and L Winchelly also picked a wicket apiece.

Kaiku was eventually declared player of the match.
