UTA fetes 9th National Open Taekwondo Championship medallists

Union Taekwondo Academy (UTA) accorded warm felicitation to the State athletes who brought home 18 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze medals from the 9th National Open Taekwondo Championships 2025 held from May 29 to June 1 at JN Indoor Stadium, Cuttack, Odisha.
The felicitation programme held at TS Paul Manipur Women's College yesterday evening was attended by Dr Mayengbam Veto, Director Youth Affairs and Sports; Hamom Sadananda, renowned actor and singer; and Ngasepam Sunita, District Youth Affairs and Sports officer, Kakching and co-founder of UTA as presidium members.
The participants and medal winners were encouraged with certificates and mementos at the occasion.
Notably, Senjam Langdai Chanu (U-35 kg) Ningthoukhongjam Sarina (U-47 kg), Okram Smriti Leima (U-41), Aheibam Himajeet (U-35) and Thounaojam Pamthoi (U-61) won gold medals in the sub-junior kyorugi events as Khangembam Yaichenbi (U-47 kg), Thounaojam Roshila (LT-44 kg), Yumnam Pibarel (U-41 kg) and Yurembam Nongpoknganba (U-65 kg) won gold medals in the cadet category competition.
Soibam Tina (U-73 kg) and Lambamayum Pradip (U-54 kg) also won gold medals in the senior category Kyorugi event.
Hidam Princy (U-47 kg), Yumnam Humlennganba (U-50 kg), Kangabam Langei (U-41 kg) and Khumbong-mayum Dayananda (U-35 kg) were able to win silver medal in the sub-junior boys' Kyorugi events as Soibam Babylia (U-47 kg), Thokchom Sibaraj (U-61 kg) and Senjam Langonhanba (U-41 kg) won silver medals in the cadet categories.
Mayengbam Priyadarshini also won a silver medal in the senior women's U-46 kg category event.
The Kyorugi bronze medallists in the meantime include Nongmaithem Arjun (sub-junior U-41 kg), Thounaojam Christina (cadet: U-44 kg), Pukhrambam Raischa (cadet: U-61 kg); Ningthoujam Surdeep (senior: U-63 kg) and Thangjam Jack (senior: U-58 kg).
Individual Poomsae competition gold medallists in the meantime include Irom Bijiya (senior), Elangbam Anganbam (junior), Bachaspatimayum Neevedhita (fresher).
Irom Bijaya, Soraisam Lamnganbi and Sapam Nancy also won a gold medal in the senior female group poomsae event as the pair of Ningthoujam Redash and Soraisham Lamnganbi bagged a mixed pair gold.
Cadet poomsae group comprising Sapam Bidyashree, Thounaojam Roshila and Thounaojam Christina also bagged a gold medal.
Another senior female group comprising M Priyadarshini, N Sania and W Martina won a silver medal, as Ninthoujam Redash (senior), Thounaojam Pamthoiba (subjunior) and Senjam Langonhanba (fresher) won a silver medal apiece in the individual competition.
The bronze medallists in the meantime include Wahengbam Martina (senior), Thokchom Chingkheinganba (sub-junior), Pukhrambam Raischa (cadet), Thounaojam Roshila (cadet) and Thounaojam Christina (cadet) and Naorem Maheshchandra (fresher).
The team were led by RK Haripriyari as manager and S Anita and Nongthombam Singhajit as coaches.
