AITA 1 Lakh Men's National Ranking Tennis Tournament : Dismal start for hosts Manipur in singles competition

Imphal, September 15 2025: Hosts Manipur's campaign in the AITA 1 Lakh Men's National Ranking Tennis Tournament singles competition ended on the opening day as W Padmeshor, KNonginsana and G Surdarshan suffered first round exit today at Officers' Club Tennis Complex, Lamphel.

While W Padmeshor went down 2-6, 6-7 to Uttarakhand's Suriyadeep Rana in a round of 32 match this morning, K Nonginsana went down 0-6, 0-6 to Maharashtra's S Parth.

Gurumayum Sudarshan, the third State player in the fray, meanwhile suffered a 1 -6, 1-6 defeat in the hands of Assam's T Ramnuj.

Earlier in the day, Sabari Nath of Kerala eased 6-2, 6-0 past Andhra Pradesh's Ashok Dutta to set up a round of 16 date with J Annurag who got a first round bye.

Haryana's Dhruv G also eased to a 6-3, 6-0 win against Chandigarh's Nishak Kakkar in the first session as Suhith Reddy of Telangana pulled off a 6-4, 6-2 win against Uttar Pradesh's Joy Das.

Dhruv G will play Suhith Reddy in the round of 16 clash tomorrow morning.

West Bengal's O Brian meanwhile secured a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 comeback win against compatriot Shuriya SS in the second session today.

He will meet Pranav Ramkumar of Tamil Nadu, who outlasted Aniket of Haryana 6-1, 6-0 in the round of 32 clash today, in the prequarterfinals tomorrow.

Maharashtra's Parth D in the meantime sealed an easy 6-1, 6-0 win against Assam's Arounesh Bora in a third session match to set up a round of 16 date with Suriyadeep Rana who beat W Padmeshor earlier in the second session.

Mayand also advanced to the round of 16 today with a 6-4, 6-0 win against Siddarth M in an all West Bengal clash (round of 32) today.

He will meet Parth of Maharashtra in the round of 16 tomorrow.

G Shidhant of Tamil Nadu also made it to the prequarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-1 thrashing of B Kartikayana of Rajasthan in the first round today.

He will face Dev Sinha of Jharkhand, who outlasted Aryan of Delhi 6-3, 6-3 in the first round today, in the next round tomorrow.

The day also saw O Arjun of Gujarat and Epinoah O Richi of Karnataka advance to round of 16 with first round victories in the fourth session today.

O Arjun sealed a hard fought 6-4, 7-6 (4) win against Param Chandra of Maharashtra in the first round and will meet T Ramnuj of Assam, who outlasted G Sudharshan in another first round match today, in the next round.

Epinoah O Richi in the meantime sealed an easy 6-2, 6-0 win against compatriot Arjun Premkumar to set up a round of 16 date with Aditya Baleshkar of Tamil Nadu, who got a first round bye today.

The doubles competition will begin tomorrow.

As many as 30 tennis players from across the country are taking part in the tournament hosted by Manipur Tennis Association under the aegis of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) .
