Young Pioneers English School sweep Nehru Hockey Tournaments' titles

Imphal, September 12 2025:
Imphal East's Young Pioneers English School (YPES), having sealed the U-17 boys and girls titles stamped their dominance by securing the U-15 Boys title in the 42nd State Level JN Hockey Tournament organised by the Directorate of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of Manipur at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium.

Young Pioneers English School outplayed KM Blooming Higher Secondary School, Thoubal by 8-1 goals to secure the top honours today.

YPES got off to a steady start and led the first quarter 2-1 thanks to penalty comers converted by N Paikhomba and L Jayananda in the 4th and the 8th minute respectively before P Arshad Ali pulled back a goal for the Thoubal team in the 10th minute.
YPES then took full command of the game, slotting 2 goals in the second quarter, 3 in the third quarter and one in the final quarter to complete the 8-1 demolition of KM Blooming Higher Secondary School.
Th Edison scored a field goal two minutes into the second quarter (17') to make it 3-1 before O Meiraba made it 4-1 after 25 minutes with a well taken field goal.
Meiraba then had his second off a penalty comer in the 37 th minute to further extend the lead before Edison also scored one more field goal to make it 6-1 after 39 minutes.
Four minutes later, L Jayananda scored another field goal to further stretch the lead before Kh Amarjit converted a penalty comer to make it 8-1 after 53 minutes.
Earlier in the day, KM Blooming Higher Secondary beat Lamjao High School by 1-0 goal as Th Levio scored a field goal in the 26th minute.
YPES boys blanked Lamjao High School, Kakching 5-0 in the opening match yesterday afternoon and by virtue of two back to back wins, they were crowned champions.
Notably, Young Pioneers English School U-17 boys defeated Kakching Higher Secondary School, Kakching by 5-1 goals to seal the U-17 boys title yesterday morning before the U-17 girls team thumped ADL English School, Wabagai by 6-1 goals to add another title to the school's tally.
