Oinam Nongpoknganba settles for bronze at Asian Boxing U15 Championships

Bishnupur, May 11 2026: Manipur's Oinam Nongpoknganba Meitei settled for a bronze medal at the Asian Boxing U15 Championships being underway at Tashkent with a semi-final loss yesterday.

Nongpoknganba, who was competing in the 46 kg category lost 2:3 to Mansur Abdukhamitov of Uzbekistan in a keenly contested semifinal bout to bag a bronze medal for India at the continental event.

6 other Indian boxers also suffered semi-final exit yesterday to finish with a bronze medal apiece while 6 advanced to the final.

Nongpoknganba is the son of Oinam Gopeshwor Meitei and Oinam Ongbi Tongbram Ningol Sushila Leima of Oinam Mayai Leikai.

Nongpoknganba trains at SAI Centre, Utlou under coach Ajay Dhamiwal, who is also a part of the National team with State Olympian Laishram Devendro as coaches.
