Manipur secure 7 medals at 34th National Classic and Equipped Bench Press Championships

Imphal, January 11 2026:
Manipur finished the 34th National Equipped and Classic Bench Press Championship campaign with a haul of 7 medals.
With M Leikhomba and Kayenpaibam Velena (-43 kg category classic event : 50 kg lift) having won gold medals and Maibam Gulabi settled for a silver medal in the classic competition, Manipur won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the equipped competition to amass 7 medals at the championships that concluded today in Haryana.

M Leikhomba, competing in the sub-junior men's -66 kg category, bagged another medal in the form of a silver with a 137.5 kg lift.
He won the classic bench press competition gold with the best lift of 127.5 kg .
Maibam Gulabi, who secured the silver medal in the junior women's -52 kg category classic event with a 57.5 kg lift, meanwhile won a bronze medal in the equipped event by registering third best 67.5 kg . Thangjam Leima meanwhile settled for a silver medal in the senior women's -76 kg category with the second best lift of 102.5 kg as Konsam Rosida won a bronze medal in the senior women's +84 kg category competition with a 92.5 kg lift.
