Khelo India Youth Games : Lifter Th Bunny adds gold medal to State tally; three boxers into quarters

Manipur's medal tally swells to 12 medals including 6 gold on Day 7 of the 7th Khelo India Youth Games in Bihar as weightlifter Thingujam Bunny clinched a gold medal.
Bunny won the gold medal in the boys 55 kg category with a total lift of 213 kg .
Bunny made the best lift in snatch, completing 96 kg after starting at 89 kg followed by 93 kg in the second attempt.
He failed to lift 114 kg in the clean and jerk first attempt but managed to complete the lift in the second attempt before finishing with second best 117 kg lift to amass overall 213 kg.
Prudvi Appaneni of Andhra Pradesh (93 kg in snatch and 114 kg in clean and jerk) and Dharmajyoti Dewgharia of Assam (89 kg in snatch and 118 kg in clean and jerk) settled for the silver and the bronze medal in the same competition.
Boxing: Three into quarterfinals
The day also saw three State boxers Gunshalu Khumba, Longjam Radhamani and Naorem Prabin progressing into the quarterfinals with victories in their respective first round bouts.
Competing in the women's 54 kg category, Gunshalu Khumba sealed an RSC win against her Chandigarh rival Pratima today.
Meanwhile, Radhamani entered the quarterfinals in the women's 57 kg category competition.
In the meantime, Naorem Prabin boxed his way to the men's 65 kg category quarterfinals without breaking any sweat as he sealed a walkover win against Delhi's Priyansh Sehrawat.
Tennis: H Shanker advances into quarterfinals
Manipur's tennis star Heisnam Shanker also advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's singles competition as he beat his Mizoram rival in straight sets (6-0, 6-2).He will face Punjab in the next round.
Hockey: Manipur men bow out
Manipur men's hockey team ended their journey in the games despite playing out a 4-4 draw with Haryana who finished as league leaders in the final group match today.
Badminton: H Malemnganba eases into quarterfinals
The day also witnessed Manipur's shuttler Hemam Malemnganba making it to the quarterfinals with a convincing straight sets victory (21-15, 21-13) against his Uttar Pradesh rival in the first round.
