4th National Sarit Sarak Championship: Manipur crowned overall team champions, hosts Jammu and Kashmir finish runners up

Imphal, September 09 2026: Manipur were crowned the overall team champions of the 4th National Sarit Sarak Championship that concluded today at Hotel Park Palace, Pahalgam in Anantnag district, Kashmir.

In the three day championship, Manipur secured 50 gold and 3 bronze medals to amass 259 points and finish on top as hosts Jammu and Kashmir bagged 4 gold, 13 silver and 15 bronze medals for the runners up spot and Maharashtra bagged 5 gold, 12 silver and 2 bronze medals to finish second runners up.

The championship saw Manipur's Longjam Yohenba (-35 kg), Longjam Angousana (-40 kg), Longjam Punshiba (-45 kg), Soram Deva (-50 kg) and Wahengbam Nenson (+55 kg) win gold medals in sub-junior boys's Chainaba Ahanba competition.

Meanwhile, Mutum Angamba Mangang (-35 kg), Ngasepam Rainbow (-40 kg), Irungbam Bomson (-45 kg), and Ningthoujam Tomthinnganba (+55 kg) bagged gold medals in the Sub-Junior Boys' Chainaba Anishuba competition as Chingangbam Naresh (-45 kg) settled for a silver medal.

Sub-Junior Girls

Meisnam Malemnganbi (-35 kg), Khaidem Bindiya (-40 kg), Preety Maibam (-50 kg) and Nongthombam Sarla (+55 kg) bagged gold medals for Manipur in the Sub-Junior Girls' Chainaba Ahanba competition as Leichombam Alina (-40 kg), Leimapokpam Tapisana (-45 kg), Sambandram Yaiphabi (-50 kg) and Langlensana Chanu Leimapokpam (+55 kg) grabbed gold medals in the Chainaba Anisuba event. Junior Boys and Girls

Mayanglambam Abindar (-50 kg), Lanchenba Laishram (-55 kg), Maibam Pamheiba (-60 kg) and Kangabam Naresh (+60 kg meanwhile won gold medals for Manipur in the Junior Boys' Chainaba Ahanba event as Salam Punshiba (-45 kg), Heisnam Raju (-50 kg), Shamurailatpam Boyca Sharma (-60 kg) and Ngasepam Ningthem (+60 kg) won Chainaba Anisuba event gold medals.

Brinda Longjam (-50 kg), Thingujam Mega (-55 kg), Tonibala Laishram (-60 kg) and Laishram Anshita (+60 kg) on the other hand won Ahanba Chainaba event gold for junior girls as Leishangthem Deina (-50 kg) and Maibam Tomba Devi (-55 kg) picked gold medals in Chainaba Anisuba.

Senior Boys and Girls

Manipur also sweep gold medals in Senior Boys' Chainaba Ahanba event with Wairokpam Arjune (-55 kg), Thokchom Alex (-60 kg), Hanjabam Boiton (-65 kg), Ksh Tomthin (-70 kg) and Laishram Noinoi (+70 kg) topping their weight categories.

In the Chainaba Anisuba competition, Soram Sanathoi (-55 kg), Elangbam Joychand (-65 kg), Nameirakpam Leishemba (-70 kg) and Huidrom Hennithoi (+70 kg) bagged gold medals as Longjam Jamson went down to host Furkaan Rashid in the final to settle for the silver.

Thangjam Ritusana (-50 kg), Oinam Roma ()-60 kg and Soram Thadoisana (+65 kg) meanwhile bagged gold medals for Manipur in the Senior Girls' Chainaba Ahanba event as Longjam Bandana (-50 kg), Haobam Sanuta (-55 kg) and Longjam Roshni (+65 kg) bagged gold medals in Chainaba Anisuba event.

The Junior Boys' team of Kangujam Romio, Pebam Lemba, Thingbaijam Robart and Heisnam Raju also bagged a gold medal in the Sarit Sarak Group Demo event.

Manipur fielded a strong 70-member State team, including 17 officials for the championship that began on September 7 .
