Malemnganba, Thoungam in men's and U-19 boys' singles finals
Hemam Malemnganba and Lourembam Thoungam progressed into the men's singles and U-19 boys singles finals in the Yonex Sunrise North East Zone Inter State Badminton Championships being underway in Tripura.
Hemam Malemnganba, seeded number 2, defeated Tonmoy Bikash Boruah of Assam 21-18, 21-13 to set up the final date with top seed Orijit Chaliha of Assam.
Malemnganba earlier in the day, eased into the semis with a 21-13, 21-8 win over Soumyadeep Saha of Tripura in the quarterfinal.
Earlier in the pre quarterfinal match staged yesterday, Malemnganba outlasted Meghalaya's Benhanan Kharwanlang 21-13, 21-15 .
Orijit Chaliha meanwhile reached the final with a 21-13, 21-15 win over Laa Talar of Arunachal Pradesh in the semi-final.
Meanwhile, Ngangom Rishav bowed out with a huge 7-21, 11-21 loss to top seed Orijit Chaliha of Assam in the quarterfinals earlier in the day.

Konsam Gunjan bows out in women's singles semis
Manipur's Konsam Gunjan ended her journey in the women's singles semifinal as she went down 16-21, 18-21 to Shanti Priya Hazarika.
Gunjan made it to the last 4-stage of the women's singles semi-finals by defeating Namrata Karmakar of Tripura 21-7, 21-19 in a quarterfinal clash today.
Shantipriya, meanwhile, reached the semis with a 21-18, 21-18 win over Lairinkimi of Mizoram in the quarterfinals.
Gunjan had yesterday reached the quarterfinal with an easy 21-8, 21-12 win over Sonnal Joshi of Meghalaya in a round of 16 clash.
Men's Doubles: Haobijam Rohenkumar and Rajkumar Alen in final
Manipur's Haobijam Rohenkumar and Rajkumar Alen Singh also progressed into the final of the men's doubles event today.
Haobijam Rohenkumar and Rajkumar Alen secured a 22-20, 21-5 win over Arunachal Pradesh's pair Dai Weshi and Laa Robin to book their place in the final.
They won 21-15, 21-10 against the Sikkim pair of Avinash Subba and Kusal Lama in a quarterfinal match to set up the semi-final date with Arunachal Pradesh's pair of Dai Weshi and Laa Robin earlier in the day.
They will meet Nibir Ranjan Choudhury and Swamaraj Bora who defeated Peramrisi Zeliang and Teichang Herie 21-19,21-11 in another semi-final clash, in the final.
Women's Doubles: Velinda-Diana suffer semifinal exit
The pair of Huidrom Velinda and Leimapokpam Diana Devi also suffered a semi-final exit with a 19-21, 21-17, 16-21 loss to Debahuti Lahon and Shekhotolu Puro of Nagaland today.
They entered women's doubles semi-finals earlier today with an easy 21-9, 21-12 win over the Mizoram pair of Laldingpuii and Zorinkimi.
Mixed Doubles
State's mixed pair of RKAlen and Leimapokpam Diana also suffered a semifinal exit following a 13-21, 12-21 loss to Assam's Dixit Gogoi and Manali Bora tonight.
They had earned a place in the semi-finals by defeating their Meghalaya rivals yesterday night.
Alen and Diana emerged 21-12, 21-13 winners in a 23-minute long quarter final clash against Benhanan Kharwanlang and Christene Jachri Ch Momin.
U-19 Boys Singles: Lourembam Thoungam enters final
Lourembam Thoungam has reached the U-19 boys singles final today with a 21 -15, 21-17 win over Gavin Kharbuki of Meghalaya in the semi-final tonight.
He entered U-19 Boys' singles semi-finals today as he defeated Nabam Isaac of Arunachal Pradesh 21-8, 21-17 in a quarterfinal clash.
He will play Bomil Akash Changmai of Assam, who defeated Arunachal Pradesh's Taku Manku 21-14, 21-11 in another semi-final match, in the title clash.
Earlier in the pre-quarter final match staged yesterday, Thoungam won 21-9, 21-16 against Rohit Gogoi of Assam.
However, Ningthoujam Yohemba Singh suffered a quarterfinal exit losing 18-21, 15-21 to Gavin Kharbuki.
He won 21-16, 21-9 over Hingmon Limboo of Sikkim yesterday to make his way to the quarterfinals.
Manipur's Pfoki Liruna had also exited early in the round of 16 losing 15-21, 8-21 to Taku Manku of Arunachal Pradesh yesterday.
Manipur's U-19 girls however had a dismal start in the singles competition with Tayenjam Leonie handing Nagaland's Konyak A Ponlih a walkover while Angom Lanchenbi slumped to 11-21, 13-21 loss to Kimkim Khongsai of Nagaland.
U-19 Mixed Doubles
State's pair of Ngangom Rishav and Konsam Gunjan also exited U-19 mixed doubles competition losing 11-21, 21-13, 20-22 in the semis to Aanayan Borah and Bhavishya Changmai of Assam.
Earlier today, they defeated the Arunachal Pradesh's pair of Anand Gurung and Amijo Tangu 21-13, 21-13 in the quarterfinals to reach the semis.
