2nd Premier League : United Chandel FC top Group B despite 0-5 defeat to KIYC

Imphal, July 01 2025: United Chandel FC (UCFC) finished Group B toppers in the 2nd Premier League 2025-26 despite a huge 0-5 loss to Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club (KIYC), Kshetri Awang Leikai in their final group match this morning at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.

Yumnam Monis scored twice (18', 79') for KIYC as Mynam Arif Husain (45'), Afridi Buyamayum(72') and Lankao Henry Kamei (81') scored one goal apiece to set up the 5-0 win.

Despite the result, UCFC remained atop Group B on 16 points from 5 wins and 1 draw while KIYC finished fourth on 11 points from 3 wins and 2 draws.

In the second Group B match of the day, Youth Social Welfare Association (YSWA) rode on Lairenjam Ramdash's stoppage time goal to salvage a 2-2 draw with ASUFII FA, Mao.

ASUFII FA and YSWA entered into the break goalless until ASUFII FA went ahead through Gangmei Lanjonlung in the 48th minute.

ASUFII FA further cemented their lead with Md Nawaz Sharif scoring another goal in the 55 th minute but YSWA pulled back a goal in the 68th minute through Seram Sekho.

ASUFII FA almost sealed the victory but YSWA did not lose hope and pulled level four minutes into the stoppage time as Lairenjam Ramdash made no mistake in converting a penalty.

With the result, ASUFII FA finished third on 12 points from 3 wins and 3 draws as YSWA finished fifth on 11 points from 2 wins and 5 draws.

Later in the final Group B match of the tournament, Sagolband United (SU) capped their campaign with a 2-0 beating of UDO, Heingang.

Ningthoujam Zidan (6') and Moirangthem Ronik (45+1') were on target in SU's victory against their Heingang rivals today.

The result did not affect UDO's position in the league table as the team had amassed 13 points earlier courtesy of 3 wins and 4 draws to finish league runners up behind UCFC.

SU in the meantime finished 6th on 10 points from 3 wins and 1 draw.
