11th International Polo Tournament Championship fever is in the air

This year's edition of the invitational International Polo Tournament is going to keep you on the edge of your chair with several teams confirming their participation in the championship which has been organised as part of the Manipur Sangai Festival, said a statement released by the Manipur Horse Riding & Polo Association.
The championship fever is in the air as two of the most successful polo teams, Argentina and the United States, have confirmed their participation.
A third team, Morocco, is also taking part in the 11th International Polo Tournament.
England will be the fourth international team to take part in this annual invitational tournament.
These four international teams are going to be part of the championship, confirmed H Dilip, chairman, the Manipur International Polo Tournament organising chairman.
India will field two teams, said the statement and this includes India A and India B, of which Manipur will represent the second team.
In total, six teams will be competing for the championship title.
The names of the players will be announced on Nov 17, according to the organisers, and added the fixture draw will be held on Nov 21 .
Preparation is almost ready at the venue, Mapal Kangjeibung.
A makeshift accommodation for 100 horses and their caretakers is also under construction at the southern side of the Bir Tikendrajit Park.
All of these are scheduled to be completed in three days, mentioned the statement.
Players and officials of the polo teams from outside the state will be putting up at star hotels in the town and organisers said the bookings and reservation for their stay have been already done in advance.
They added high quality 'kang' for the players have also been hired, said the statement.
According to the organisers, the participation of George Gill, who is the chairman of the United Polo Association International Committee and the American International Polo Foundation will be historic.
They added the tournament has been made possible with the contribution from the Manipur Horse Riding &
Polo Association.
