Solar lamps distributed

Imphal, November 17 2017:
Assam Rifles 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) distributed solar lamps to the border villages of Kasom Khullen subdivision, said a press release of PRO IGAR (S) .
Huge participation and presence of villagers from Bungdung, Punamram, Kasong, Namlee, Makan and Nambashi Khullen were recorded.
These border villages have no electricity.
The event was also attended by youth and ladies of the villages.
Three schools of the sub-division, namely Bungdung High School, Kasong High School and Nambashi Khullen High School were gifted with stationery, books and reading material for children.
Youth were presented with volleyball and football to engage them in constructive activities, it said.
The event was followed by tea and snacks with the locals.
The general populace expressed their happiness and wished IGAR (South) a Merry Christmas and prayed together for the well-being of all Assam Rifles personnel, the release added.
Jwalamukhi Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division also distributed solar lamps to Kananphai, Mongyang, 8 Mile and Nepali Aisan villages of Kangpokpi district on November 15 under Op Ujala project.
This initiative will go a long way to obviate the problems faced by the electricity devoid remote villages.
The villagers and village authorities of the villages conveyed their gratitude, said a press release of PIB Defence Wing.
Jwalamukhi Battalion under the aegis of Senapati Brigade of Red Shield Division also distributed solar lamps to Waichei and Songjang villages of Kangpokpi district on November 13 .
Jwalamukhi Battalion is making all efforts to resuscitate the existing facilities in the district.
The villagers and village authorities of Waichei and Songjang villages conveyed their gratitude, the release said.
