12 Maratha Light Infantry of 9 Sector under IGAR (S) organised a para-sailing camp for school children from the vicinity of Imphal city at Koirengei Old Airfield on July 9 with about 80 students getting first hand experience and joy of sailing high in the sky, a PRO IGAR (S) said while adding that the event was aimed at instilling the spirit of adventure among the students.
A motivational talk by Commanding Officer of 12 MLI added to their enthusiasm, it said.
the PRO release also informed that medical team of 12 MLI saved the life of a man, who was bitten by a venomous snake, through timely administering of anti-snake venom.
It is said that one Sadokpam Rojit singh (25) of Kwakeithel Konjeng Leikai was brought to the Unit Hospital in a critical condition before timely assistance by the medical team prevented possible fatality.
AR saves: One Md Wahajudin (33) s/o Nahatomba was also bitten by a snake on his left leg while working in a paddy field today.
But timely action by personnel 28 AR in Lilong post saved him and averted what would have been a tragedy.
Wahajudin was immediately rushed to Lilong AR post where he was given anti-venom serum and first aid.
Although he is out of danger, he is being kept under observation.
The family members and locals of Lilong have thanked the Post Commander for the priceless service.
