While extending supports to the initiative taken by the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) to make open sell of commodities at reasonable rate, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh flayed state government and Chief Minister for rounding up AMSU leaders by sending out commandos today.
Publicity Secretary, BJP state unit, Basantakumar Sharma while expressing condemnation to the act of state government asked what is wrong with the students' body when they take up the drive when government failed to take up necessary action to relieve the people.
The initiative of AMSU was appreciable as it was to relieve public from hardships from price hiked in the state.
Disruption to the open sell and arrest of AMSU's leaders by Chief Minister by sending commandos is strongly condemned by the BJP, he said.
He further expressed suspicion that and the action of the state government cast in connivance with traders.
Government is encouraging the traders in sucking blood of the poor people by not taking up stern action on selling essential commodities at exorbitant price.
He insisted that government should take up immediate steps to bring down the prices of essential commodities and relieve the public from burden of price hike.
He also pointed out that government should encourage the students in their drive to check selling essential commodities at high price.
