Imphal, February 11, 2011: Expressing gratitude to the President of India for her decision to visit the state and meet the teachers and students, the Council of Teachers' Association (COTA) in a press release stated that they will welcome the President of India Pratibha Devi Singh Patil on her visit to the state.

It stated that they will be discussing the impasses between the state government and the teachers, the inconveniences facing by the teachers and many other problems in the field of education.

Moreover the teachers will not be conducting duties of census if the government does not give their demands.

It also urged the jail authority not to give harassment to the striking teachers and not force feed them.
