Thoubal, May 22 2025: A 13-year-old boy got drowned while swimming with some of his friends in a water supply pond near a mosque at Sangaiyumpham Part 2, under Thoubal police station, around 1 pm on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Md Sarif, son of Md Sahid of Sora Maning Leikai in Kakching district.

He was a Class VIII student at Child Care English School, Sangaiyumpham Part 2.According to reports, Sarif and his friends were swimming in the pond when he drowned.

Despite frantic efforts by his friends and locals to locate him, he remained missing.

Expert divers were later called in, and his body recovered around 3:50 pm .
