In a continued effort to protect wildlife and safeguard bird populations, the Thoubal Forest Range staff, under the initiative of Divisional Forest Officer Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, carried out a major anti-trapping drive today.
The drive was led by Dineshchandra Salam, Range Officer of Thoubal Range, with support from a large team of staff from Yairipok Beat Office, Heirok Beat Office, and Mayai Keithel Beat.
During the drive, around 20 numbers of bird traps were seized from areas of Sangaiyumpham, Samara and Tentha.
Two birds which were trapped on the nets were also removed and released back into the wild by the officials.
