Imphal, August 19 2025: A 43-year-old man from Bihar has been arrested on the charge of sexually assaulting an 11-year old girl, police said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Girish Kumar Das, had been living in a rented room under Imphal police station jurisdiction.

The victim also lives in a rented room in the same area, according to police.

Following a report filed with the officer-in-charge of Imphal police station, a case was registered under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2013 .

Consequently, Girish Kumar Das was arrested and produced before a court, which remanded him to police custody till August 21 .
