Samples test negative for Mpox

Jiribam, September 02 2024: The Directorate of Health Services has notified that the three samples sent to the State Level VRDL, Department of Microbiology, Guwahati Medical College and Hospital for confirmation of Mpox Virus have tested negative for the same.

As per the notification issued by Dr O Sanahanbi Devi, Director of Health Services, samples from the three patients (2 from Assam and 1 from Jiribam) including crust of skin lesion, blood, nasal swab and oral swabs were taken and sent to the hospital on September 1 .

Additionally, the notification has informed that no other similar cases have been reported in the State.
