Protest staged at Imphal
Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, July 15 2012:
Joining the outcry against a comment published in the Guwahati based Hindi daily Purbachan Prahari on July 11 which read like "How can a bell ringer be a rich man?", a protest demonstration was staged today at Minuthong (Imphal river bank) under the aegis of the Manipur Brahmin Samaj.
The protesters burnt effigy of GL Agarwal, Editor of the particular Hindi daily.
They also put up placards and shouted slogans like "Purbachan Prahari misguided people of North East", "Stop publication of fake news" etc.
The same comment has evoked widespread condemnation and protest demonstrations are being staged in different parts of Assam.
