Imphal, February 11, 2011: A 48-year old man died when an iron wedge (sherni) chopped his neck around 8 am at Lairenjam Awang Leikai under Nambol PS.

Family suspect the manner of his death.

The deceased Keisham Lukhoi son of Jugendra of Nambol Thiyam Leikai was engaged in cutting firewood at the shop of Takhellambam Kanta of Nambol Lairenjam Leikai.

The shop also deals in iron scrap.

A cut mark apparently made by a sharp weapon was found in the neck of the deceased.

People nearby the wood cutting place said that he died after he was hit by the wedge he used to cut the firewood.

However, family members said that the cut mark is not of a wedge.

Meanwhile, a 53-year-old man was hospitalized with severe burn injuries he received when he came in contact with an electrict current at a transformer at Lilong Chajing under Singjamei PS last night around 10 pm.

Moirangthem Binoy of Lilong Mairen Khun received 45% burn injuries in his legs and hands, according to doctors at RIMS hospital where he was rushed to.
