Zeliangrong musician John Mpamei passes away

Noney, August 11 2025: Ringkhuanlung, popularly known as John Mpamei, passed away around 7:30 am Sunday at a Guwahati hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment after suffering a stroke a few days ago.

A celebrated singer and music teacher of the Zeliangrong community, John had returned from Qatar last month to visit his family.

Widely admired for his musical talent, he was equally respected for his humility, kindness and ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

His demise has left a deep void in the music fraternity and among all who knew him.

Based in Qatar as a music teacher, John Mpamei is survived by his wife and two children.
