Assam Rifles recovers betel nuts worth ₹54,000

Imphal, September 02 2024: Assam Rifles foiled cross-border smuggling of betel nuts at multiple locations along the Indo-Myanmar Border (IMB) in Moreh sector of Tengnoupal district on Sunday midnight.

In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that during a routine border guarding drills, AR teams deployed in areas such as Pangal Basti, Border Pillar 76, Border Pillar 78 and H Munnom village of Moreh, thwarted attempts by suspicious individuals to smuggle in betel nuts into the Indian side.

The seized betel nuts estimated to worth Rs 54,000 in the international market were handed over to Customs Department, Moreh for further investigation, it added.
