Imphal, August 26 2025: Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West has remanded a person in connection with a vehicle theft case to 3 days police custody.

The accused, Haobam Sanayai (25) of Itam Nungoi Khunou was produced before the Court yesterday by a team of Imphal police station.

Sanayai was arrested after the police caught one Takhellambam Nongshaba (20) of Uripok Polem Leikai who had allegedly stolen a Maruti Swift Dzire car from North AOC on August 22 .

On preliminary interrogation, Sanayai disclosed that he got the stolen "Maruti Swift Desire" on mortgage from a person from Chana for Rs 1,60,000 .

Hearing the request of the prosecutor, the CJM Imphal West yesterday remanded the Sanayai to police custody till August 27 for further investigation.
