One drowns in Jiri River

Jiribam, June 15 2025: One person drowned in Jiri River, while attempting to cross it today at around 3 pm.

The deceased has been identified as Idualungbe Newme of Old Mandew Village under Tousem subdivision, Tamenglong and he is survived by his wife and one child.

According to reports, Idualungbe and his friend from Lungreijang, Jiribam, were attempting to cross the river to reach Namdailong in Cachar, Assam, when the incident occurred.

The body was recovered around 6.25 pm by volunteers from Lungreijang Youth Club and Ramgaizang Youth Club.
