Thoubal, July 29 2026: Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) Prof N Rajmuhon has stressed the need to integrate the customs, traditions and cultures of indigenous communities of Manipur and the Northeast into the Indian education system to bring about meaningful transformation and achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047 .

Prof Rajmuhon made the statement while speaking as a resource person at a 'Vyas Puja' programme organised by Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Manipur Prant, at Dorendro Memorial Higher Secondary School.

He said human resources are the most important resource in the 21st century and that human knowledge is the key to development.

Maintaining that quality education is indispensable for advancing civilization, he stressed the importance of maintaining a healthy and meaningful relationship between teachers and students.

He said that while transforming the existing Indian education system under the National Education Policy, the customs, traditions and cultures of every indigenous community of the Northeast, including Manipur, must be given due importance.

Prof Rajmuhon further said that starting from tomorrow a two-day workshop would be organised to deliberate on the roots of the prevailing ethnic conflict in the State and the inclusion of topics related to drug abuse and its impact in the NCERT curriculum.

Former Manipur University Professor of Sociology Rajendra Kshetri, Bharatiya Shikshan Mandal, Manipur Prant president Kh Basanta, Dorendro Memorial Higher Secondary School Principal Naorem Radhamani and RSS Manipur Prant Sanghchalak Prof Th Naranbabu attended the programme.

As part of the programme, five achievers from Thoubal district who excelled in various fields were also felicitated.

They included Khundongbam Maniton (educationist), Mayengbam Iboyaima (Nat Sankirtan), Thokchom Ibochouba (educationist), Ningthoujam Brindasakhi and Wahengbam Tharanisabi (Nat Sankirtan) .
