Imphal, January 27 2026: In a remarkable achievement, Swaty Laishram, a Manipuri girl, commanded the All India NCC Girls Marching Contingent as the Second-in-Command at the 77th Republic Day Parade 2026 held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi.

Daughter of Laishram Birjit Singh of Khun-drakpam Makha Leikai in Imphal East, Swaty is the Senior Under Officer of 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC .

She was the only cadet from Manipur to be selected and entrusted with a leading role in the Contingent, marking a historic milestone for the State and bringing immense pride to the NCC fraternity of the North East region, said 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC in a press note.

The Unit also takes pride in the achievements of Cadet Under Officer Moramba Konsam and Cadet Under Officer Pinky Ningthoujam, whose consistent performance at National-level NCC platforms has further elevated the stature of the Squadron, it added.

Their successful participation at the All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC) 2025 and the Republic Day Camp 2026 in New Delhi, including participation in the Prime Minister's Rally, reflects the high standards of training, discipline and leadership inculcated within the Unit, it said.

The Unit also congratulated the participating cadets for bringing recognition to the Squadron at the National platform.

It also said that these accomplishments underline the rising leadership, operational readiness and National visibility being achieved by cadets of 1 Manipur Air Squadron NCC.

Saying that the Squadron continues to excel in preparing cadets for premier NCC platforms including the Republic Day Camp, All India Vayu Sainik Camp, Youth Exchange Programmes and other National-level activities, the Squadron said that such achievements reaffirm the Unit's commitment to nurturing confident, disciplined and capable young leaders for the State and the Nation.
