The entire State of Manipur, excluding the areas falling under the jurisdiction of 13 police stations, has been declared as Disturbed Area for a period of six months with effect from October 1, 2025 .
Sources informed that the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India issued a notification to this effect today.
The MHA notification said that the entire State of Manipur has been declared as Disturbed Area under Section 3 of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act or AFSPA 1958 with the exception of the areas falling under the jurisdiction of 13 police stations in five districts.
With the extension of the Disturbed Area status, AFSPA 1958 will remain in force in the State barring the areas under the 13 police stations.
The areas which have been spared from Disturbed Area tag and AFSPA 1958 are those under Imphal PS, Lamphel PS, City PS, Singjamei PS and Patsoi PS in Imphal West district.
In Imphal East district, areas under the jurisdiction of Porompat PS, Heingang PS and Irilbung PS have been spared from Disturbed Area tag and AFSPA 1958 .
Areas under Bishnupur PS and Nambol PS in Bishnupur district, Kakching PS in Kakching district and Thoubal PS in Thoubal district have also been left out of Disturbed Area and AFSPA 1958.A similar notification was issued on March 30 this year whereby the entire State of Manipur barring the areas under the 13 police stations was declared as Disturbed Area for a period of six months.
The notice which came into effect from April 1 expires on September 30 .
