Imphal, October 24 2025: The Enat Yokkhat Luptin (EYOL) Manipur has appealed to all the people not to organise Thabal Chongba on inappropriate occasions.

EYOL today held a meeting and counselled Meira Paibis of Wangoo Laipham Makha Leikai in connection with organising a Thabal on the night of Ningol Chakkouba festival, and the two sides came to an understanding.

Speaking to media persons at the Kwakeithel office of AIMS today, EYOL General Secretary Mayengbam Dhananjoy said that organising cultural events on inappropriate occasions paint a very awkward picture of the State's culture.

Despite EYOL's appeal not to organise any Thabal on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba festival, women and girls of Wangoo Laipham Makha Leikai organised a Thabal last night.

Taking serious note of the matter, EYOL and local Meira Paibis of Wangoo Laipham Makha Leikai held a meeting today and the two sides came to an understanding, Dhananjoy said.

The two sides agreed that the Meira Paibis would advise the youngsters not to organise such cultural events on inappropriate occasions, he said.

He also appealed to all people who are providing light, sound and music not to lend their equipment for Thabal Chongba organised on inappropriate occasions.

The EYOL General Secretary further appealed to people, if there is any, who are still planning to organise Thabal Chongba during this inappropriate time to abort the same plan.

Some womenfolk of Wangoo Laipham Makha Leikai were also present at the press meet.
