Imphal, November 16 2025:
Justice Ahanthem Bimol of the High Court of Manipur has stated that the High Court Bar Association of Manipur (HCBAM) was formed to uphold the highest values of the legal profession and strengthen the foundations of justice.
He made the statement during the 35th foundation day celebration of HCBAM at the auditorium of the High Court today.
Addressing the function as chief guest, Justice Bimol continued that the HCBAM was not bom of convenience but of conviction to uphold the highest values of the legal profession.
He urged those present to pause for a moment to pay homage to the illustrious founders who once sat among them and worked with unwavering devotion.
Their contributions, he said, are inscribed not merely in records but in the character of the institution itself, he said.
He also said that they owe a debt to the founders of HCBAM that can only be repaid by preserving what they stood for - "integrity, independence, and the sanctity of the rule of law" .
The reputation of the Bar, he emphasised, is built not on numbers but on standards.
He also stated that legal brilliance without ethical discipline is like a sword without a hilt-impressive, but dangerous.
The programme began with floral tributes paid to the portraits of late members of the HCBAM by all those gathered.
Director of Manipur Judiciary Academy Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu; Advocate General of High Court of Manipur Lenin Hijam; Chairman of Bar Council of Manipur S Brajabihari; HCBAM president N Kumagit and former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam also attended the programme among others.
