Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum remembered

Imphal, July 13 2025: The 4th Late Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum Memorial Function 2025 was held today at the Manipur Press Club, organised by the Manipur Meitei-Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) .

The memorial function was graced by dignitaries, including BM Maisnamba, State Akademi Awardee; MA Chesaba, president, MMWO HQ; Arjul Kabir, former president, Writers Union Manipur; MM Ahamed, Sahitya Akademi Awardee; Dr Raheijuddin Sheikh, recipient of Manipur Sahitya Parishad Literary Award 2025 and Akashvani Award 2000; BM Yaima, president, FOCS; Alhaj Islauddin, president USMDC Keirao AC; and Hasimuddin Moinammayum, chief advisor, MMWO HQ.

Notably, Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum was a prominent Meitei Pangal (Manipuri Muslim) writer and poet, known for his contributions to Meitei-Pangal literature, particularly his poems and journals.

He is also recognized for his collaborative work with Khutheibam Abdur Rahman on the book "Pangalgee Khunung Eshei", which explores the past and present societal norms within the Pangal community.

The memorial function began with a tribute to Late Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum and the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

It was followed by the Late Kayamuddin Pukhrimayum Memorial Open Patriotic Poem Recitation Competition.

Distribution of prizes to the winners of the competition and felicitation of distinguished Meitei-Pangal writers for their contributions to literature & community were the other highlights of the event.
