Imphal, May 13 2025:
The Senapati-Phaibung Road Development Committee has lodged a complaint to Senapati deputy commissioner Mamoni Doley over damage caused to the Senapati-Phaibung road, which was constructed with funding from the DoNER ministry.
In its complaint letter addressed to the DC, the Committee referred to a government order issued on August 14, 2024 for improvement work on the road stretch from Mt Everest junction to Leison bridge via Ngatan and Khamsom villages.
Pointing out that there is no connection between the Senapati-Phaibung road, popularly referred to as DoNER's Road and the aforementioned road project, the Committee explained that the two projects are under separate head and budget.
As such, the Committee denounced damage caused to the DoNER's Road by the work agency/contractor under the pretext of overlapping each other.
The Committee also recounted an emergency meeting held with village chairmen & secretaries on March 3, 2025 at TNK, Senapati village authority hall wherein those gathered unanimously resolved to oppose tooth and nail any obstruction or damage caused to the DoNER's Road.
The Committee also urged the DC to instruct the department/agency concerned to comply with the order issued and not to take undue advantage of the existing road.
