The Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry is commencing the 3rd round of Classical Swine Fever (CSF) Vaccination Programme across the State from May 15 .
The vaccination programme will be conducted under the Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), a Centrally sponsored scheme of the Government of India, said the State Directorate of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Services.
Classical Swine Fever (CSF) is a highly contagious viral disease affecting pigs and it remains a major concern for pig farmers due to the heavy economic losses caused by mortality and reduced productivity.
In order to protect the pig population and strengthen disease control measures in the State, the Department has been undertaking regular vaccination drives under the LHPC, said the Directorate.
The vaccination programme starting May 15 will be carried out by the Department in accordance with the prescribed guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) issued by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), Government of India.
The vaccination will be provided free of cost to eligible pig population across the State, said the Directorate.
Active participation of farmers is essential to prevent the spread of CSF and safeguard the pig farming sector in the State, said the Directorate, appealing to all pig farmers and stakeholders to extend their full cooperation to the field staff during the vaccination campaign to ensure timely vaccination of their pigs.
