Imphal, January 11 2020: Chief Minister N Biren Singh has announced that around 1 acre of land has been bought at the cost of Rs 24 crore for construction of the 3rd Manipuri Bhawan in Delhi, at Dwarka.

He made the announcement on the sideline of a reception programme held at his official residence today in honour Ksh Bhaktakumar, former Mr India and ex-Warrant Officer of Indian Air Force, who has been conferred the Pride of the Nation Award 2019 .

The CM continued that around Rs 100-150 crore might be required for construction of the Bhawan and added that plans are being made to include a space on the lower portion of the Bhawan to house elderlies and patients, having around 20 beds and nursing facility.

Biren then said that following the detection of supplying sub-standard items and apparels to Manipur police personnel, the State Government has taken up necessary measures to remedy such fraudulence.

As a apart of these measures, Liberty shoes and belts will be distributed to different police units at 1st MR Parade Ground tomorrow, he announced.

Replying to a query, Biren said that information has been relayed to Archeological Survey of India regarding the break down of Thong Nambonbi and assured that the bridge will be repaired at the earliest.

On the other hand, lauding Ksh Bhaktakumar for receiving the Pride of the Nation Award 2019, Biren said that Manipur produces many talented people and it is laudable that the youths are trying their best to excel in various fields despite the many problems plaguing the small State.

He also informed that cyclist Laitonjam Ronaldo, who clinched the World Junior No 1 spot in the Union Cycliste Internationale ranking, as well as shuttler Meisnam Meiraba, will also be felicitated in the near future.
