Thoubal, November 09 2025:
In response to the growing concern over the poor functioning of the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Yairipok, which was recently locked down by aggrieved local bodies, MLA of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, K Meghachandra and Deputy Commissioner of Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei visited the centre on Sunday to take stock of the situation.
During their visit, the MLA and DC held a detailed discussion with Dr L Robinson, Senior MO of the CHC Yairipok, and other staff members to understand the challenges faced by the hospital and to explore immediate measures for improvement.
Speaking to the media, MLA K Meghachandra stated that there is currently no misunderstanding at the hospital between the hospital administration side and the local bodies.
He added that a formal dialogue would soon be initiated between the representatives of the local bodies and hospital authorities in the presence of CMO to resolve the issue.
The MLA also urged the public to avail themselves of the hospital's 24x7 services without hesitation, highlighting that CHC Yairipok has consistently recorded high turnout and provides facilities like free laboratory testing and medicines.
Acknowledging shortage of staff, K Meghachandra expressed hope that the shortage of doctors at the CHC will soon be addressed by the authorities.
He also appealed to the hospital administration to serve patients with dedication and empathy, ensuring quality care.
DC Thoubal, Hannah Kahmei further assured that the district administration would extend all possible support to improve the functioning of the hospital and to ensure efficient delivery of healthcare services to the people.
