Imphal, February 06 2026: Cabinet Minister Govindas Konthoujam has stated that Churachandpur, which has been experiencing a tense situation, is now under security control.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a Pariksha Pe Charcha event at Wangkhei High School, Govindas, who is expected to ne in charge of the Home portfolio, said that the Government has implemented adequate security measures to prevent any untoward incidents in Churachandpur.

When asked about the ongoing situation in Churachandpur, he clarified that there have been no major instances of violence, apart from some individuals expressing their disapproval of the formation of a new Government in Manipur.

While acknowledging that normalcy has not fully returned to Churachandpur, as some people want the crisis to persist, he emphasised that the situation is nonetheless under control.

Saying that many people in Churachandpur are eager for normalcy to return to the State, he assured that the Government is actively working to restore normalcy and stability in Manipur as soon as possible.
