International Day of Older Persons observed

Leima Chanu Nawa Tengbang Lup and Sangai Trust Foundation jointly observed the International Day of Older Persons today by organising a special programme at the Senior Citizens Home, Kongba Nongthombam Leikai.
The event held under the theme "Leave No One Behind", was graced by dignitaries, including Salam Prasanta Singh, managing trustee, Sangai Trust Foundation; Dr S Bhagyabati Devi, founder president, Leima Chanu Nawa Tengbang Lup (LCNTL); Thokchong Renu Devi, president, LCNTL; Khangembam Santibala Devi, secretary, LCNTL; Sanglakpam Ibechaobi Devi, Nursing Officer; Meisnam Saityabati Devi, joint secretary, LCNTL; Khangembam Kusum Devi and Thingujam Reeta Devi.
Speaking on the occasion, Salam Prasanta highlighted the need to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of the elderly in the society.
"The older generation has played a Crucial role in shaping our communities, and it is our collective responsibility to understand the challenges they face today, to recognize their knowledge and rights, to provide care and support, and to ensure that their guidance continues to inspire and strengthen our society", he added.
He also asserted that the elderly are a powerful pillar of the community, guiding the younger generation toward a better future.
"They are not merely family members but a guiding force that holds immense social, cultural, and economic value", said Salam Prasanta while adding that the programme was organised to honor their lifelong contributions and express collective gratitude & respect.
As part of the event, essential multivitamins, multimineral tablets, calcium tablets, and digestive enzyme supplements were distributed to the elderly residents of the Senior Citizens Home to support their health and nutrition.
