Blast to deter bandh, claims KCP (PSC)

Imphal, May 03 2026:
Suspected militants carried out a bomb attack at Malom today.
According to sources, the explosion occurred at a crematorium located adjacent to the camp of Manipur Terriers (Army) around 11.55 am.
The blast caused damage to parts of the crematorium.
Following the incident, Singjamei and Imphal West police rushed to the site and assessed the situation.
A case has been registered at the Singjamei police station.
Meanwhile, the Kangleipak Communist Party (Politburo Standing Committee) has claimed responsibility for the bomb explosion at Malom.
In a statement issued by its secretary of information and public relations M Punshiba Meitei, the outfit said that the bomb blast served as a 'final' warning against the imposition of bandhs, blockades, shutdowns, and the smuggling of contraband items through Imphal Airport.
The outfit reminded that it had previously imposed a restriction on bandhs, blockades, and shutdowns, citing their detrimental impact on people's livelihoods and the future of the State.
