State Chief Information Commissioner RK Angousana has fined Deputy Commissioner of Senapati district Nidhi Kesarwani Rs 25,000 for her failure to provide information sought by vice-president of the Naga People's Organisation D Kanmi under RTI Act.
D Kanmi filed an RTI application on July 8 last seeking information such as names of beneficiaries of Indira Awaj Yojana selected during 2008-2009 and 2009-10 for Senapati district as well as APR copies for the amounts released, conveyed an NPO release.
But the DC who is also the State Public Information Officer (SPIO) failed to give any response to the application.
Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the State Chief Information Commissioner on August 23 .
Following the failure of the DC to pay any heed to the repeated instructions of the Information Commission to furnish the information sought, the DC was served a showcause notice on November 26 .
But DC Nidhi Kesarwani paid little attention to the notice.
Consequently, she was fined Rs 25,000.As the DC is not providing the information sought, Chief Information Commissioner RK Angousana has intimated the DC that he would recommend disciplinary action against her in case the information sought is not provided within a week counting from the day when the order was received, conveyed the release.
