Manipur police Saturday claimed foiling of an attack to the Imphal Capitol Project by apprehended a couple, members of KYKL, who are on mission to deliver hand grenade to two KCP activists.
The couple was identified as Chananthabam Samananda Roy alias Inaocha son of Ch Yaima Roy of Lairikyengbam Leikai, Imphal and his wife Bidhyarani (35) .
Police alleged them to be members of the proscribed KYKL.
The other two activists of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) who police said engaged by KYKL for lobbing hand grenade at the Imphal Capitol Project were identified as Salam Sushi (32) alais Tabobi alias Tomcha son of S Birachandra of Singjamei Sapam Leikai and Sapam Nishikanta (30) alias Chaoba alias Thoi son of late S Sanatomba.
Assistant SP, Imphal West District, L Mangkhogin Haokip, IPS who is the overall charge of the Imphal West Police Commandos speaking to the media persons today said that they were apprehended by the commandos who swung into action on specific inputs yesterday evening at about 4 pm from the road leading to Capitol Project at Lilashing Khongnang Makhong.
The couple was on mission to deliver hand grenade handed over to them by an activist of the proscribed Kanglei Yeol Kanna Lup (KYKL) named Hemba to the two activists of another proscribed outfit KCP (Noyon faction).
The commandos recovered the hand grenade from the possession of the woman KYKL member who produced the hand grenade conceal in her waist and surrendered to the police.
They were coming on a Scooter (Access-125 brand) bearing registration no.MN01R-8992, he said.
The two KCP cadres were nabbed during a brief search operation in the follow up action to the disclosure made the couple from a spot near the Capitol Project with a Scooter (Honda Dio brand) bearing registration no.MN01M-9223.They were working under the command of one Rohit alias Pandaba of KCP(Noyon).
