Students� Meet, 2005, an interaction session between the newly elected representatives of schools and colleges and members of Manipur Students� Federation (MSF) was held at Manipur Hindi Parishad, Assembly Road here today.
AMUCO advisor Dr Dhanabir Laishram and MSF president Kh Gourachandra were chief guest and president of the function respectively which was also attended by ex-AMSU president Ramakanta and ex-MSF presidents Kh Nando and Udoi as guests of honour.
After a series of discussion on various issues confronting the State and student community in particular, the meet resolved to usher in a conducive academic atmosphere where students could learn their lesson without any hindrance.
For this, the meet decided put pressures on the Government for maintaining an academic calendar, taking up steps to provide all the required infrastructures and teachers in the educational institutions, formulation of proper policy of transfer and posting of teachers, ensure availability of common text books under Common Syllabus before commencement of the academic session, 2005 and to updated vocational educational system among others.
Giving the key note address, MSF vice president N Ibomcha elaborated on the objectives of MSF.
He said MSF is against politicalisation of education and would work as a pressure group for establishment of a model academic institution, proper transfer and posting policy, updated text books and curriculum with incorporation of local elements.
Speaking as resource person, lecturer of Economics, MU Chinglen Maisnam delved into the root cause of unemployment problem in the State.
